| 401034 | 2005-11-01 18:58:00 | Hi Guys, The best way for us all to get cheaper broadband in NZ and higher or no caps is to not sign up for any broadband deal either from Telecom or an ISP ! this year. This way Tele$om they will not meet their target of 250,00 bb users by the end of the year and the Government / Commerce Commision will be able to come down hard on them. I say Telecom needs to be bought by the govt and then split up into a state owned infrastructure only company that owns the lines and the switches but that cannot sell any phone services. It would be charged with providing the best quality lines and switches as technology allows .Then the other parts would be sold to as many pte companies as wish to connect to the SOE and offer various telecommuication services. If done correctly it would not cost the govt anything as they would get their money back straight away. Regards Digby |

That's exactly what Telecom used to be before the govt sold it off. The govt could never afford to buy Telecom back. |

Any way I dont think Telecom will hit that target any way; it might be close but not close enough (if they do I will be surprised!) As there is a lot of people out there that dont need broadband & dial-up does them fine. |

Thats very friendly. Until one of them downloads the entire limit in one go and then decides he can't pay you that month. |
