| 401929 | 2005-11-05 01:15:00 | Fireworks should not be banned. The people who get themselves hurt are obviously incredibly stupid and deserve the self ownage they cause upon themselves. I think fireworks are absoultly hilarious and I completly agree with the natural selection guy. And yes I am allowed to be an immature little **** like everyone. Tonight I'm going out with about 15 mates and 500$ of fireworks. Should be a LOT of fun. |

| 401930 | 2005-11-05 01:39:00 | How many of those letting off fireworks know that Guy Fawkes actually tried to carry out a meaningful reform of Parliament? Of course, he talked too much before the deed, was caught, and met a very unpleasant end. :( | Graham L (2) | ||
| 401931 | 2005-11-05 01:49:00 | Sometimes its the innocent that get hurt, the pranksters seem to do more damage to others than themselves. im not for or against them, but we do not buy them at all, but do watch the local show from our house most years. beetle |

| 401932 | 2005-11-05 01:51:00 | Hmm i'm trying a quartar of that tonight. If you never see me on PF1 again, you know why... Word of warning, wire a fuse into it , They dont go up like a bunch of sparklers, they go off like a flashbomb, and then burn like a high pressre gas line. If you arent a good distance away you will get burned, if your sticking your arm out and light the bunch then you would most probally die. |

Fireworks shouldnt be banned, but there should be huge penalties for anyone who misuses them (ie sparkler bombs etc) |

| 401934 | 2005-11-05 04:46:00 | I would say no but to be honest all the fun went out of fireworks when they stopped us buying crackers, tom thumbs, double happys, thunders etc . . . (used to love blowing fresh cow . . . er . . . turds to smithereens . Not a nice sight if you didn't move far enough away =P) Agree . There wasn't much of a selection either and the only other device that was worth it where sky rockets . I was just coming up to the inquiring stage (after the destructive stage where anything that may create spectacular results when exploded where tried) and wondering if it where possible to make a multi-staged skyrocket when they where banned . So that put an end to my ambitions of becoming a rocket scientist . After I was married and had kids, my mum handed me a paper bag of double happys (about 500 I recon) that she had found in my bedroom when I had left home and I must have forgotten about . I thought all my xmasses had come at once . Oh the fun I was going to have reliving my youth . Unfortunately, my wife had other ideas so the lot went into the incinerator (unlit) and I had to dispose of them in a controlled manner . I played it for all it was worth though . I twisted some fuses together and arranged all the double happys in a manner that would insure maximum effect . The whole lot went off in less than 2 seconds . Quite spectacular, but not as much fun . Mind you I may have almost been killed or at least seriously injured on at least one occasion . I dropped a thunder cracker into a glass stubbie bottle (I had done this before without anything untoward happening) . It vanished while I was about 3 feet away . I was amazed that I wasn't hit by flying glass . Specially when about a second or 2 after the bang, I heard the sound of a piece of glass landing on the roof of the garage . |

Just look at alchohol and smokes which teenagers can still get their hands on quite easily.True To be honest, it seems our country is turning into a bunch of pussies. We seem to try to ban everything that might have a slight chance of hurting you.Hmmm, where to start...NO our country is not turning into a bunch of pussies as you so eloquently put it. We try not to ban anything (well apart from smoking, and even I think thats wrong) willy nilly... theres usually a very good reason. A large part of the reason things are stating to get banned; are the idiot teens who just don't care... don't care that they damaged so and so's house by doing some stupid f**k thing, they don't care they shoved a big cracker up a cats a$$ to see what would happen, or how far it would run before it fell over. The idiot teen boy-racers (there are responsible ones, few but they are there) are another group of stupid f**ks who don't care either... they only care that there car got scratched, never mind the accident they caused down the road. There are always going to be the idiots out there, they have been around for years, and they will stay with us. The only thing thats changed is the number of idiots, there seem to be a lot more of them, and the stupidity level has increased. That said, i've never burnt myself or had my house burnt down from fireworks, so maybe i don't have the right to comment. We all have a right to comment |

| 401936 | 2005-11-05 05:43:00 | Well said Tazz, couldn't agree more. I wonder who the idiots were letting of fireworks at 20 past midnight last night. I bet they weren't adults. I feel sorry for there neighbors. I wasn't one of them. I just happened to wake up and heard the bangs in the distance. Trevor :) |
