675880 2008-06-10 11:19:00 If you are having problems with Winantivirus - its not actually a virus, its actually malware/spyware.

Download all the anti-malware programs from my sig, they will remove it fine. You may like to disable system restore as well so it doesn't reinfect on reboot.

675881 2008-06-10 11:37:00 The last link in WT's sig should remove it (Malwarebytes) Speedy Gonzales (78)
675882 2008-06-10 11:41:00 Speedy is correct, malware bytes should, Spybot will (usually) Just make sure the scans are set to full scans not quick, and are all fully updated. (the full scans do take a while) wainuitech (129)
675883 2008-06-10 11:53:00 Blimey, thanks everyone!

D is the second half of her partitioned HDD- when it came up, I told it to ignore and continue with the scan- figured I simply don't know enough about PC stuff to risk it... my flatmates problem with anti mal/spyware programs is that she doesn't have any! lol

Seriously, she only has AVG- I know she needs more than this (firewall at least!), but I figure what I have is probably overkill (AVG, Zonealarm, winpatrol, Spyware guard, Spyware blaster, Ad Aware, Spybot), plus whatever protection a Linksys router has... what does she need as a minimum?

In the meantime I'll download the programs, run them and see what happens. Cheers everyone!

675884 2008-06-10 12:00:00 You only need one of both (like Avast or NOD32), and Comodo (If you want something free). BUT this can be a bit hard for new users. I spose Zonealarm is ok, for (1/2 a freebie).

The 2 programs from Malwarebytes are pretty good (Rogueremover and Malwarebytes Anti-malware).

You dont have to get every anti-spyware program on the planet

Scan D again and tell trojan remover to remove it from the hdd or registry. Whatever option it comes up with

When trojan brought up an alert, did it say what autorun.exe belongs to??

It usually does if whatever it is, is in its database

675885 2008-06-13 12:29:00 Hi guys, I installed and ran malwarebytes, and also redid a HJT log. MBytes came up with 6 nasties which have been quarantined and deleted. Trojan remover came up with a few more, but the log is enormous.

My flatmate has installed AVG 8.0- I had an exam yesterday, and haven't had a chance to uninstall it and install Avast yet!

The HJT log is below, do you need to see the TR or MB logs? Sorry I haven't been more specific, it's been a long week!
