401828 2005-11-05 02:11:00 It's important to get the little details right, too, Ben. The unit multipliers are actually international standards, and it doesn't take much effort to get them correct.

A thousand of something is a kilo, as in kilobit/s or even kbps. A million is a mega, as in megabit/s or Mbps. They are not Megabit, or Kilobit. They are kb and Mb.
Little "m" is milli: one thousandth, and capital "K" was taken for the temperature unit, the kelvin.

401829 2005-11-05 02:51:00 You should add multiple opinions. Add that my opinion is that people should stop bitching so they download anime and pr0n faster with the excuse that its their actually downloading linux images. I can see where telecom is coming from, they just see that more bandwidth means more pr0n and illegal crap downloaded.

You might round it to make it more appropriate to an essay. I think you need to mention multiple views in order to gain good marks.

I should also add that their some pretty harsh generalisations you're making. I don't know many people who can obtain 7mb, other than the ones right next to the exchange. You'll also need to gain research on the actual statistics, such as uptake to form a valid case. Also claiming it is a terrible ISP is quite misleading with little evidence.

"People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". Saying that everyone who has a "fast" connection is a porn junkie is just misguided. Using your logic that faster : illegal, we should also ban fast cars because they can go ofer the speed limit. Instead we should cap all cars to go no faster than 100km/h. If you don't want a fast connection because all you do is email, fine. That's your choice. But I don't want to pay the same amount for the same slow connection as someone else does for a faster connection.

Besides, there are plenty of everyday uses for a fast connection. Schools for example (Especially larger ones) have to service many many users. And on a 1.5mbit DSL connection with caps it aint pretty. Another one would be art and graphics students. You know, the ones that have to shift large files frequently, all on a 128k upload connection
