| 401200 | 2006-02-10 23:36:00 | Millions die every year from Cancer Millions die every year from Aids 40,000+ people die in car accidents in the United States alone. 100's of millions will probably die from global warming within the next century caused by the burning of fossil fuel (including cars again). I forget the actual numbers but recently saw on the net how the Yanks were worried about the number of soldiers killed in Iraq. It turned out that there were something like 70 per 100,000 whereas the murder rate in DC is about 80 per 100,000. |

Knowing its not the magic answer or would you just take nothing instead and hope for the best. True that there are other stats out there that may be more dynamic as some have pointed out but are you willing to go out and stuff when one has been confirmed at your own town (let's say). IMO pple may not care much now but when NZ does get it most pple would buy it. It may not be the true answer but there is nothing else out there. |

| 401202 | 2006-02-11 04:43:00 | A family friend came back from HK yesterday. Don't know if she was exaggerating, but she said a few months ago, in HK, a single dead bird with H5n1 will make headlines. Just before she came back, she said there are birds dying with the virus in many parts of HK. At this rate, NZ is going to get a case of bird flu very soon... But of course, NZ has fewer people over a much larger area. We shouldn't really be that worried.... i guess.... | SidT (9191) | ||

But we worry while listening to the radio (in our cars) on the way to work about the 70 ish people dieing around the world dieing from bird flue and it MIGHT get worse!. Yes the media are a bunch of retarded politically controlled sensational seeking chip monkeys, stop paying attentions to them and worry about the things that REALLY matter, they only report the stories that will grab your attention, not the ones that are boring and too hard to solve. Could not agree more. Well said. |
