2005-11-02 09:10:00 | youve just lost a customer of 8 years, your idiotic policies and equally stupid helpdesk have pushed me to ihug, am in the process of changing to ihug 2mbit with a 20gb cap for $49.95, compare that with 256k with a 3gb cap for $10 more on telecom you can see why. the main reason was that (we used to get my fathers business paying for our dialup, but when we changed to broadband we needed to bill it to the actual number we were using (home phone, not work phone) so we said cancel our dial up and shift us to broadband) anyways, 18 months later and the business manager looks at the bill and we are still being charged for dial up (considering this a 4k bill for them, they dont often look at it), we say cancel it, but unbeknownst to us our email address since 1999 was associated with this, so now we have no email, and according to telecom, we cant get our email address back as its associated with the old account. silly telecom. first you over charge me, then you cant give me the email address i paid for, then you try and charge me for an email account extra, then your prices are $20 more expensive than BROADBAND YOU WHOLESALE, can anyone see why i wouldnt change? way to treat your loyal customers | Tux (606) | |

2005-11-02 10:18:00 | Of course iHug are still paying Telecom the Lions share of that $49.95 for providing you with Jetstream anyway, so either way they still win. | ninja (1671) | |

They screw with people so much, and in most cases there is nothing you can do if you want broadband internet, you HAVE to pay telecom, possibly not directly, but they still get paid. -Qyiet |

2005-11-02 21:42:00 | we used to get my fathers business paying for our dialup, but when we changed to broadband we needed to bill it to the actual number we were using (home phone, not work phone) so we said cancel our dial up and shift us to broadband) 18 months later and the business manager looks at the bill and we are still being charged for dial up we say cancel it, but unbeknownst to us our email address was associated with this, so now we have no email, and according to telecom, we cant get our email address back as its associated with the old account. Hmm. I would ring back and bump it up a level or two. Forget talking to the helpdesk about this. I'd start with accounts. First if the dialup hadn't been used in that time, they can see that and therefore should refund the amount. I have had similar situations at an ISP I worked for once - however sometimes someone would claim it wassn't being used but in fact had been. There are records of it so it is easy for them to check. No use - no problem refunding it. Second, I don't see why you cannot use the same email name on broadband. An email address is just whatever username @ isp. Whether you use dialup or broadband or carrier pigeon. Unless it wasn't your username but the companies?

2005-11-03 02:33:00 | I just realise that Telecom is clearly overcharging their customer on dial-up when I realise that Orcon is offering broadband Internet service for only $29 . 95 (compare to telecom dial-up - $27 . 95) . Cheers :)
