1426947 2016-10-05 04:50:00 I was using Active@ to backup in Win7 but it looks as though the backup in Win10 might be just as good.? Any advice will be welcomed. Pato (2463)
1426948 2016-10-05 06:14:00 There has been a few changes in W10 that the older versions of Active don't like to much . I use it mainly for creating images for customers computers using the Bootable CD before reinstalling or repairing .

The Backup in W10, strangely enough , in the control Panel is actually the same W7 backup, even called the same - never actually used it, but if its anything like the old one, the only thing I don't like personally is if you want to put back an image it creates, the drive its going onto has to be the same size or larger than the original, other wise it refuses even though there may be adequate space .

What ever is used pays to test it sometimes on another drive - no good if it wont put back .

1426949 2016-10-05 08:48:00 I found that both Windows 7 and 10 backup are OK for basic use. But using as a daily or weekly etc backup on a schedule once the backup device is full it stops working as it will not remove the oldest file version. Otherwise fine for one off's.

If anyone know how to get the Windows backup to delete oldest version automattically I'd like to know :)

1426950 2016-10-05 09:27:00 Have a look at Macrium Reflect Free. It is a very robust package with scheduling, differentials, and disk management plus a heap of other features. And did I mention it is free!! linw (53)

I also do a full weekly backup with Win 7 backup.

1426952 2016-10-05 20:00:00 For berryb: From Win 7 Backup Q&As:-

To view and manage your backup disk space:

Click to open Backup and Restore.

Click Manage space. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation,
type the password or provide confirmation.

Note
If you haven't set up backup, you won't see Manage space.

To change the amount of space that is used by file backups, under Data file backup, click View backups.

You can then select and delete older file backups.

.That is a pity because it is a good programme. My version is v7.0.4 64bit. It looks as though I should try another backup programme.

That is the latest version and it still works just fine for me in Win 10 Pro.
