| 1425716 | 2016-09-07 00:31:00 | I hear so many people, when talking about someone who died, that he "passed away." Why can't they tell it like it is and just say that he died? Is that just another case of being PC? What a load of rubbish. Which ever way you look at it, he's dead! There's no getting away from that fact. So why do these people try to make it into something that it isn't? They also talk about "his passing." Let's get real. If he died, if he's dead, why not face reality and say so. |

Maybe it ulimately achieves nothing, but death is an uncomfortable subject for many so they avoid mentioning it outright particularly around friends and relatives of the deceased. Why does it bug you, it's not like you don' t understand what's being said so what difference does it make what phrase is used? Saying someone has passed away in no way denies the reality of their death. |

| 1425718 | 2016-09-07 00:59:00 | I remember a skit on TV about the grandaughter going to the mall with her recently widowed Nana. Her mum told her to be careful what she said as Nana was still pretty raw about Grandad's death. She was so careful and all went well till they got to the mall and Grandaughter was giving directions where to go when she said... "That way Nana, that's the way to the Pa Cark" Ken (sorry for that) :banana |

People should only use words and phrases you deem acceptable ? |

I am just glad to still be around hearing however they want to call it. Ended is what I would like used for me. |

That no-good alchoholic bludger that owes you money apparently changed overnight to a paragon of virtue. This change is way more dramatic than the green grub becoming an orange and black butterfly, so they must have passed on to become a butterfly/saint. If they had just died, they would still be a no-hoper, when all the reports talk of this incredibly heroic paragon of virtue. It is all too miraculous for mere words. Had they been run over last week, they surely would be dead, but after the incredible reformation they just pass on. ;) |

But I agree - I don't like this pussy-footing around with people 'passing' - it always makes me wonder which hole they are 'passing'. And I had better stop now. :) |
