1424718 2016-08-21 06:30:00 It is not a crime. It is no different to police searching for someone elderly with a medical condition who has wandered off. Head injury patients do not always think rationally, so he probably doesn't realise his life is at risk. Jen (38)

Exactly. Police have the resource to do this (i.e. manpower out and about) that the medics by reason of being of necessity confined to their base do not.

He has an address, they know that..they could ring it, contact a family member etc.

It didn't say he walked out, it said he discharged himself. So he was thinking well enough to make a decision and insist on it. I know they fuss they make when you do that....

1424722 2016-08-21 21:40:00 My late Mum used walk and get lost once when visiting us from Auckland back in the 90's. She was in the early stages of dementia at the time (but we didn't realise it). I used to pin a tag on her cardy just in case and she came home a couple of times by a neighbor from up the road. He was a good looking guy in his 60's at the time and Mum thought this was great. :)

1424723 2016-08-21 23:17:00 I hope that someone does that for me if I wander off the reservation . It's refreshing to know that some people still are kind enuff to help .

My wife says that I am in secondary dementia now, the first, I tell her, was getting married .

Not really and I hope she doesn't get a hold of that statement .

Reality check . . . . . . .

She and I have been sick as poisoned dogs for the past three days . "Headache" in the left eye, nausea, sore triceps and finger- toe-joints, did I say nausea? And unearthly cold!!!

Can't get warm . I have my bath and shower hot water maximized to 130F, and it feels cool . Resisting the urge to run the max up to 140F or more .

When did I get this old?
