1425313 2016-09-29 21:18:00 Clive, I thought I would try Kodi on my tablet but can't see how to use it for watching Freeview - in the immortal words of the great Australian intellectual Pauline Hansen, "please explain"?

I just use Kodi on my PC John. I have a Hauppauge card in it which is accessed by Media Portal TV Server which in turn hands the actual TV Freeview signal on to Kodi which is then used to control it. Once set up it lets the PC run as a normal TV would.

I also have a Freeview addon installed which I obtained from Caz Wallace's repository. That addon works ok but is not HD. It should work on your tablet.

I am no expert on this stuff and just follow my way to where I need to go using Google and Wiki one step at a time. The Kodi Wiki I found reasonably easy to follow, it appears to be written for normal people and does not assume that you already know everything.

1425314 2016-09-29 21:55:00 Ah, thanks Clive - that makes sense of the PC end. Secondly I thought there must be a Freeview app somewhere but I didn't find it - I will look for Caz Wallace's repository. Thanks for the other hints as well. John H (8)
1425315 2016-09-29 22:53:00 Correct me if I'm mistaken, but aren't your Windoze10 updates peer to peer now? They can be , but can also be turned off. wainuitech (129)
1425316 2016-09-29 22:54:00 Well, that was pretty amazing Clive. Freeview add on installed, and quite reasonable quality on the Nexus 9 tablet. Thanks for the steer. John H (8)

1425318 2016-09-30 11:36:00 That Freeview addon isn't using official streams so could go off at anytime if Freeview are not happy about it existing..
you could also try my NZ playlist which also contains the "official" streams . TV1 and 2 will have "official" livestreaming next year

bevy, the url take you directly to the playlist and invites you to save it. I googled Kodi and .m3u files and one of the first hits was a tutorial telling you how to install (if that is the correct word) the kiwitv.m3u file in Kodi. First, save the kiwitv.m3u file to your tablet (if that is what you are using), and then follow the tutorial. It worked for me.

Sweet settings John :clap:thumbs: Works a treat - This PC which is not the actual media center, no TV card, works great following those instructions.

total 46 channels to go with our sky Via Vodafone subscription. ( just what we need more decisions as to what to watch) lol
