As Zorba the Greek would have said "The wife, the mother in law, the children, the house, everything; the full catastrophe"

You could have said the same but substituted your list of cars. :clap

1425091 2016-09-05 08:27:00 Can any of you old huas remember manumatic? I never had one but my Morry Oxford handbook mentioned them as an option when I had a series III Ox box. prefect (6291)
1425092 2016-09-05 09:09:00 Manumatic, a portmanteau of the words manual and automatic, is a term referring to a class of automotive transmission. Manumatic refers to an automatic transmission that allows convenient driver control of gear selection. Driftwood (5551)
1425093 2016-09-05 09:23:00 Was that in an old Standard 10 which had no clutch pedal, just a button on the top of the gearlever? I used to service one during my garage days here in Napier. kenj (9738)
1425094 2016-09-05 09:30:00 I once owned a 1948 Chevrolet Fleet Master. It had the usual 3 speed box, but it also had a vacuum assisted gear shift. This worked fine until you traveled through deep mud whereupon if you changed to second gear it would immediately slam back to 3rd. A breather used to get blocked in the vacuum servo. I attached a hose to it which did the trick. Weird idea having a vacuum assist on a conventional column change. mzee (3324)
