| 1424473 | 2016-08-18 21:11:00 | I'm well pleased we don't chlorinate our water - it was done temporarily after the earthquakes and is just plain gross - everything stinks of it, and it is incredibly noticeable how crap the water is when I travel around the country - makes you glad to get home. It can't be good for you being pickled in chlorine from everything you ingest for your whole life. |

I use a filter to improve the taste of my tap water, but only because when I moved to this side of town it had a metallic taste compared to what I was used to. I don't actually have a problem with Chlorine and fluoride in the water and believe the benefits outweigh any minor concerns. I've been drinking chlorinated water and eating things cooked in it for my whole life, hasn't killed me yet. |

That may have a buildup of chlorine & nasty tastes, just wait 1/2 a sec with tap on, then good to go. |

| 1424477 | 2016-08-19 04:37:00 | The bottom line is this is “Third World” nonsense and the Government should have dispatched experts to sort out what happened, not rely on a report from the Council. As for the taste of NZ water, well all I can say is, try Aussies, that will get your attention. When my daughter moved there she couldn’t drink the stuff so she got a you beaut filter and the water out of it is excellent. I think the actual filter cartridge is about $60 and needs changing a couple of times a year but you do get nice drinking water. But you only have to look at the colour of Aus rivers and wonder how they ever get it drinkable. I recall Prince Phillip offending them years ago by asking why their rivers flowed upside-down. Don’t think they've forgiven him yet. :D |

| 1424479 | 2016-08-19 05:20:00 | I saw on the news their treatment/test lab, and as a former IANZ certified organic industrial chemist, I was appalled at their messy incongruous concrete garage facility. It resembled a makeshift water station one might see in a warzone army quarters tent. As for being "pickled" I suspect many have succumbed through long term alcohol adsorption - none from drinking NZ tap water. |
