| 676466 | 2008-06-08 22:27:00 | Good Morning So basically I have a netgear DG834G V2 modem/router I am running on a connected ethernet cable line thru to my modem while two other people are running wireless .They are about 10m-15 away. So i've enable my two external harddrive to share across the network.They can both see my folder under "my network place" but it is slow and often it freezes their computer. Copying data doesn't work.One of the friend tells that when she tried to copy a file it her Vista computer simply just stalls at the window which says "Calculating estimated time" Are there anyway to increase the speed or suggestions on how to share my harddrive efficiently over the network? |

The XP laptop just freezes just by clicking my harddrive on her end. She uses SP2 None of the users including myself uses Norton |

| 676471 | 2008-06-09 19:46:00 | Actuually i left the part where if I access her vista laptop from my modem/router it goes in and loads things quite fast but not vice versa. Does it sound strange? Someone told me to setup a VPn in Xp but wouldn't it just be the same?The speed etc? |

| 676472 | 2008-06-09 21:16:00 | Are you sharing a FOLDER, or sharing the WHOLE hdd?? I wouldnt share the whole hdd, if this is what youre doing. Create a folder and share the folder. What are you sharing on the hdd at the mo? |

| 676474 | 2008-06-09 21:33:00 | Wrat meant SP1 for Vista, not SP1 for XP. Is SP1 for Vista installed, on the computer, thats got Vista? And the others are only connected using wireless not ethernet? And youre trying to copy files using wireless only? |

| 676475 | 2008-06-09 23:46:00 | 3 People I am on ethernet two others on wireless I run windows Xp Sp2.Another runs Xp Sp2 .The 3rd person uses vista They are using wireless trying to view files by browsing thru the files from their end using wireless.The one with Xp are able to see my harddrive but once she clicks on it in her laptop comes to a freeze. The other is also using wireless running Vista.She can click on a file and try to play it .It starts playing fo 10 seconds then stop.She tried to copy a file about 700MB to her laptop but her laptop just says "Calculating estimating time" |
