404189 2005-11-13 22:22:00 As there is something dodgy with xtra email delivery for me this morning (my other pop services are ok), I thought I would try the 0800 number to find out if there is a "known problem". (As usual, the Xtra website status indicates "no known problems on the xtra network".
Well, I find that in ringing the help line, after getting the "all our operators are busy" message, the only option you are left with is to "try again later". Whatever happened to the "priority queue" that at least gave you the impression you could eventually get to speak with a human?

I guess at least their call stats showed no one waiting

404192 2005-11-13 22:57:00 It was more the amazement that to get through to someone on the helpdesk, you had to keep trying until you were lucky enough to strike a call operator without a call.
I certainly don't use their help desk very often, but there used to be a recorded status message as an option, and you could "wait in line" if you wished to speak with someone. Now there are no options - zip. And I thought their helpdesk was one of the reasons xtra touted as to why you should pay their charges, as opposed to some of the more 'budget' ISPs.

404193 2005-11-14 00:34:00 This is the forth time its happend to me, I was out setting up a clients email and it wouldnt go  :badpc:

It dosent look good for a tech to phone xtra help desk for a simple email setup, I got a recorded message telling me the troubles with the email service.

4 times this has happened, 4 times, yes 4 TIMES :groan: :groan:

4 times this has happened, 4 times, yes 4 TIMES :groan: :groan:And the Lord spake unto the people, and he sayeth unto them "Thou may useth an ISP that doesn't suck, for woe is the person who remaineth with Xtra just because they hath been billed with their telephone services"

The last SMTP outage they had was for 18 hours, bloody useless.

404196 2005-11-14 21:27:00 I was only phoning for confirmation of the outage for the client before I left .

Try telling someone heres your bill, your internet goes but your emails dont, thats probally Xtra's fault, you probally have to wait a while to see if it comes right by itself . . . bye .

If their outages are so long why does anyone actually use Xtra email?
maccrazy (6741)
404198 2005-11-14 22:10:00 Because its easy .

And because all ISP's have their issues .

The biggest reason I see people dumping Xtra is because they can get it cheaper elsewhere, but instead of dropping down a level they shoot right to the other end of the scale and sign up with the cheapest possible providers, Then they find they are in ISP hell, move back to Xtra and swear never to leave again .
