403507 2005-11-11 11:20:00 Just downloaded and played this, what do others think?

I have spent about 10 minutes playing so far, so my opinions are probably more than a wee bit out.

I thought that the all the colours where kinda odd. I reeally hate those glaring white footpaths, my eyes just don't like them.

Apart from that, graphics are pretty stunning. I like it how it is day-time racing now, I spend my time looking at scenery :)

Unfortunately, I think the faster you go, the faster this motion-blur takes place. I don't really like that, as it reminds me of driving with my glasses off :waughh: Heh, no. I think motion blur should be only used for the NOS. Nothing is very sharp when you are driving fast is what I am driving at.

I thought the cops where a bit too easy to get away from, and not aggressive enough.... until I ran into a road-block. Wow, those are some road-blocks.

AthlonXP 2000, 512mb ddr266 (non-dual channel), geforce 4 ti 4200 128mb. Managed to keep above 20fps on second lowest setting and 1024x768, so not tooo bad.

I probably hate all the music on it, but that's just me. The first menu music didn't give me a good impression, so I turned it all off.

Cop voices were great, very nice to have cops back.

Not sure if its my system, or the game, but when glass broke, it sounded more like a 'squeek' than a 'tinkle/smash'

I would very much like to see this on a mid/top end system.

Anyhow, will play it some more, see if my opinions change.

403508 2005-11-11 17:48:00 Im just downloading now, I have an athlon xp 3000+, 1gb Ram and a 6800gt, I was able to play nfsu2 on full @ 1280x1024 with no lag so hopefully this should perform similar, I'll let you know how it gets on.

Can you not just turn motion blur off in the menu? I always turned it off completely in underground 1 & 2, I thought it looked tacky and horrible.

403509 2005-11-11 19:57:00 Underground was tacky in every respect....

Anyhow, I'll give thisone a fat some time, the screenies look alright.

Yes I liked the NFS series until they went Underground. NFSU sits in a dark corner of my cupboard gathering cobwebs haven't bought any in the series since. The best NFS tiltles for me were NFS Porsche and NFS Hot Pursuit 2.

403511 2005-11-11 23:19:00 I thought the best was NFS4 and NFS:Porsche.

I didn't like Underground enough to buy them, but this one..... drooool.

I havn't heard the squeeky glass again, so it must have been my imagination.

The graphics options don't give you much choices. Only high/medium/low type setting, with no advanced option to turn certain things on and off. Bit of a backwards step there, kinda disappointing.

The white footpaths still annoy me. I think it is meant to be sun glare on them or something, its just that they are like that 90% of the time.

The cops definately are too easy to get away from. All you have to do get moving, even slowly and they can't catch you. Not like NFS4 where if you dropped below a certain speed for a few seconds with a cop next to you, and you where caught.

The good thing is that there are swarms of cops.

My brother is playing some 'evade the cops in 1 minute' type of race, and he can nearly do it with his eyes shut. The cops seriously need to be more aggressive.

Awesome graphics though, if I havn't mentioned it already

403512 2005-11-12 00:18:00 Ah, it does have advanced graphics settings. You have to press 2 to get them. mejobloggs (264)
403513 2005-11-12 02:51:00 well that was fun, I definately have to turn the graphics settings down a bit to get it to run smooth. The cop chase thing is mildly challenging especially in the golf, which i know for sure isnt that gutless in real life :p lagbort (5041)
403514 2005-11-12 08:05:00 Ok, if anyone wants to turn off the white glare, go to:
Video Options > Advance > very last setting > set to low

403515 2005-11-12 08:28:00 Doesn't suport seperate axis pedals, meaning when I lift of the accelerator the brake is applied, Makes my wheel unusable.

Thats a sloppy mistake, yet they manage to incorperate it it into nearly every NFS and then patch it later.

Can be forgiven as its only a Demo but EA have the resources not to be leaving the obvious unfixed.

Graphics are all visual effects, that crap arse light bloom effect on everything, Runs at an unplayable framerate on my rig.

Guess I will have to tone it right down and use the KB.

hmmmm....On second thoughts I will delete it and go back to rFactor.....
