2005-11-09 21:36:00 | I have long believed that email addresses entered in to the To: window, particularly to groups of club members, are in some way harvested for spam purposes. And that if they are in the Bcc: window they cannot be so harvested. Is there truth in this and where can I verify it to convince elderly and pig-headed old club members that they really need to change their ways? Any help appreciated thanks. | Scouse (83) | |
2005-11-09 21:54:00 | Email addresses cannot be harvested if they are in the Bcc: field. Safari said so and that is good enough for me. :p :D | FoxyMX (5) | |

2005-11-09 23:38:00 | I have a relative who insists on sending emails via the "broadcast" method and I am having one hell of job convincing her to stop. If you have mailwasher, you can view the message headers and copy/paste all the names and addresses into the body of a message. I did just that to her last email and I hope she is now convinced. There may be alternative ways to do this if you don't have Mailwasher (like right clicking each name and selecting properties then copying each individually) but however you do it, if you copy them all and resend the email to all of your elderly and pig-headed old club members with appropriate comments attached you might convince them that way. There is no more risk involved than their original send. Cheers Billy 8-{) PS This worked on my local MP during the recent election campaign, they change their email practices very quickly.

2005-11-10 00:05:00 | Hi Foxy, Stu and Billy. Thanks for you interest. However, other than the fact that Safari said so, we don't have much of a foundation for convincing unbelievers. I accept that Foxy believes Safari and that Stu believes that Foxy is right. Great. I'll hang on a while in case Safari can convince me so that I can convince others....... Lunch over. Back to work. | Scouse (83) | |

There is no more risk involved than their original send. That sounds a long-winded way of doing things. In Outlook Express all you need to do is right-click on the message, go to Properties>Details>Message Source and copy and paste the emails addresses from there. Unless I have misinterpreted what you were saying? |

2005-11-10 01:36:00 | Am I reading this post right? Can't figger out how to mass mail e's? Have to click on individual names / screennames to send that name to the addressee bar? Hrumph! I create folders in my address book with those who are in certain catagories and when I have a mass e to send out, just click on that particular folder and they are all addressed in BCC...that's Blind Carbon Copy...so no-one knows the others got the same e-mail.
