403517 2005-11-12 09:19:00 DS2 demo was 1.5gb. THAT is madness

Metla, is there a demo for rFactor? How much is the full game? Do you have the full game? How does it run? Tell us a bit about it, give a review on it

403519 2005-11-12 10:49:00 Alrighty, After uninstalling my steering wheel I have a more positive view.

The music is god awful.
The car physics are non-exsistent, even the earlier games were better in this regard, why go backwards and dumb it down so much?
No in car view
No stunt cam or replays that I could find (again, this was implemented in earlier games in the series)
Graphics are flashy to the point of being over the top (This is personal preference, Some may love the look) yet the detail of the models and scenery isn't particulary good

um...The positive...

After removing my wheel from the system I was able to run the game at full detail with a fair whack of AA and AF and still had a playable framerate.

Game provides frantic arcade action which is what it is designed to be.

Its in Daylight, I didn't see any of the Vista's of earlier games but im sure they will be there.

Cars are no longer ricers, Its back to cars that don't suck, That said the cars are in no way related to their real world counter parts.

I was able to beat the AI while using a KB, this is a minus for me but does mean that a 4 year could make progress in the game, doesn't seem to require any skill at all.

The other issue I have, This doesn't look anything like the screenshots I have seen....

I may buy it when its down to $10, I like some throw away arcade meyhem, But that depends on them fixing the wheel issue.

403520 2005-11-12 11:04:00 As for rFactor, I made a thread about it awhile ago, I'll see if I can drag it up.

But in a nutshell, rFactor is the latest and greatest sim-engine developed by ISI, The game rFactor incorperates all the advanced features they could cram into the engine (alot of it hasn't even been explored as of yet) but in its virgen form is a bit weak, a handfull of cars, a handfull of tracks.

The idea of releasing the game was so that the Mod community would add content, In time dozens if not hundreds of racing series from every era will be playable in the game.Everything from Aussie V8's,F1 cars, A1gp, Nascar,Touring cars, F3's,street cars, classic racing cars, american muscle cars.......And if you can 3d model then ISI have released tools to put your own creations in the game.

The screenshots from above are of a mod that is currently in progress, Its gonna rock, I love Vipers, and Vipers modelled on their real world counterparts is a damn fine drive...Especially around Lemans, Spa or Bathurst..

Speaking of tracks, I have installed about 12 in the last week, as time goes on this may grow into the hundreds.

However, Like I said, Out of the biox its a bit bare, But the driving/racing experience just can't be beat.

If your looking for a fully fledged racing game that is already packed full of content then you could try GT Legends, Its made on the same game engine as rFactor and they have a demo...

GT Legends is the ultimate historic racing simulation bringing back the legendary spirit of the 60s and 70s. From the famous Mini Cooper to the muscular Corvette Stingray and fire breathing BMW CSL, GT Legends is the first game featuring all the legends of classic car racing. In decades past, these mythical machines regularly met in fierce combat on racetracks across the world. This was the time when racecars were nasty, super-powered brutes. It took no less than fearless manhandling and wit to survive the hard wheel to wheel racing that define their era.

403525 2005-11-15 06:12:00 To turn off motioin blur:

Start > Run > regedit
then go to LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE/EA Games/Need For Speed Most Wanted Demo.

Doubleclick on the entry "g_MotionBlurEnable"and a new window should open, replace the "1" by a "0" then click ok. the blur is turned off in the game then and the game look much nicer.
