| 677485 | 2008-06-11 00:49:00 | A friend has dumped his computer on me to try to solve a problem. It is a DELL Dimension 3000 [CPU 2.66 Celeron with XP Home.] When it is switched on it comes up with a blue screen and a message as follows: STOP: c000021a [fatal system error] The windows Logon Progress System process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000034 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down. The computer will not run at all so it is hard to do anything with it although I can get into the BIOS. I have the CD for reinstalling the OS,perhaps I should try to wipe the HD and reinstall? Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks in advance. |

A GOOGLE search shows that the problem is common, it is a fault in the OS, there are suggestions that this and that should be run but the computer is locked up and nothing can be run. Drastic measures were necessary so I inserted the set up CD and was surprised to find that it ran. I wiped the HD and reinstalled the OS and it is working OK. | IanS (924) | ||
