2005-11-11 20:03:00 | Sony halts production of music CDs with copy-protection scheme WASHINGTON (AP) - Stung by continuing criticism, the world's second-largest music label, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, promised Friday to temporarily suspend making music CDs with antipiracy technology that can leave computers vulnerable to hackers. Read more here: www.pcpro.co.uk ...I wonder if by "temporarily suspend making..." they mean "while we sack the idiot employee who pushed this stupid idea, replace them, and get a marketing agency to prop up our crappy image" !!

2005-11-11 21:16:00 | Content protection is becoming a right pain in the a... I've got a new Panasonic DVD recorder and it seems to have trouble playing legitimate DVD's. Trying to play legal zone 4 discs and it says it can't be played on this player. Yet if I remove the zoning and make a backup copy of the disc it plays fine. Now I have to use "illegal" methods on my legally purchased discs just to get them to play. This just encourages people to break the law. Not happy!! :angry

But then again, you and I, and our friends, and friends of our friends.... will not forget. And they already have law suits about the rootkit. For me, Sony has joined the club that Norton's and MS are in. Ha! |

2005-11-12 05:43:00 | So would one assume that its a good idea to download that patch mentioned ? | Overdrive_5000 (4950) | |
2005-11-12 05:48:00 | IMO, copy protection is just another incentive (on top of high prices) to download off the internet. Do away with CDs altogether and make your own. They are therefore shooting themselves in the foot. | barmypom (6048) | |
2005-11-12 20:56:00 | Hmm upon reading the other article mentioned on that page I dont think that patch is a good idea at all | Overdrive_5000 (4950) | |
