| 677538 | 2008-06-11 08:14:00 | This laptop has only been released in NZ. It replaces the M600. There appears to be a internal microphone problem after you wind back Vista to XP. It seems no one, or techo can "finger what is the cause". The problem is when testing whether it be by the Windows Sounder Recorder or even Skype, the playback is so weak, it might as well not be installed. The retailer has now returned his stock of M800's to Toshiba. I am interested to know if anyone out there in cyber space has had the problem, and more importantly how it was solved :thanks | jhb (13853) | ||

| 677540 | 2008-06-11 10:16:00 | maybe the wrong drivers were installed - Just looked on the Toshiba Web Site (pc.toshiba-asia.com) (after you skip the damn ad that takes a long time to load) - navigated to M800 Via the menu and all drivers are there for both XP and Vista. | wainuitech (129) | ||

The brochure for the M800 stipulates it can be rolled back to XP. Apparantly all there M800's have been shipped back to Toshiba to sort out. Other than that believe it or not the machine seems fine! The Toshiba Products Manager was in the outlet where I purchased it and could not finger the problem. My own personal belief was the problem lies with the roll-back to XP. When Ifind out I will post the result! |

Well my purchase was returned to the Toshiba outlet and refunded my money. All there Techs could not find what the problems were. As a customer, it tells me Toshiba's quality control needs to be addressed and the retail outlet did not do a comprehensive check on the machine before releasing it to me. They checked the remaining M800's and all had the same problem with the internal microphone. The workaround was to "cart" headset and microphone around with me. That scenario is not what I purchased the machine for. When travelling I use Skype as one method of communicating with clients. No matter where I turn, I get told the same thing , and that is stick with XP until Vista is thoroughly "fine-tuned". I do not have any problems with XP:thumbs: |

I have also learn't that the problem also lies with Vista, not just XP! |
