405421 2005-11-20 02:47:00 They will guarantee any ipod any where, so why should claims outside of warranty be any different?

How about you read your International Warranty and then post the following information:

1) Length of warranty in Years/Months

2) Procedure for making claims (a precis will do).

That will tell us what you are up against, but your chances are not good. To get anywhere will require tact, politeness and a good dose of negotiating skills.

You could get lucky, but IMHO & E it is 80/20 against.

As for my judgement, I have the experience to know what I am talking about, from both sides of the fence.

Cheers

405422 2005-11-20 03:21:00 Ahhh blah blah blah

The product was bought outside of NZ, is out of warranty etc etc

Hard Luck.

Get on with it, buy a new one or learn from this and buy something more reliable

405423 2005-11-20 04:09:00 **** off tazz, i spose you have another $550 for me to get another ipod??? and more reliable? a friend of mine has had a 2g 20gb since 2002, i thought that it was much more reliable and from a reputible manufacturer that prides itself on quality and "people", ok i have proved myself wrong, but how was i to know? And its not hard luck, its a multinational corporation trying to worm out of its social and ethical responsibilities to provide an reliable, and worthy product to the consumer, and if not, then back their product by providing a replacement, service, or a discount on another one even if it was out of warranty. a similar situation has been highlighted with the leaky buildings, so its out of warranty, but the home owners arent getting what they paid for. i spose youd tell them to "get on with it" and "buy a new one" would you? this is not a $100 cd walkman, so get with it. 405424 2005-11-20 04:19:00 When you are dealing with leaky homes, you are into 100s of thousands, those concerned were ripped by bad legislation and dodgy tradesmen

This is only a crummy ipod, known not to be ultra reliable at the best of times.
Electronics are funny things, they can be reliable as, or you can get a bad run.

You seem to put as much faith in Apple, as a lot of others do in Microsoft and Nortons, I hear they break often, don't hear noone singing sad songs over that
Myth (110)
405425 2005-11-20 04:33:00 thats because they arent hardware genius, components versus software. easily fixable compared with unfixable. and ipods are much more reliable than you think, especially if you take care of them, such as putting them in a case as i did. how can i protect myself from faulty components? warranty? no, they made sure it lasted the compulsar y year didnt they. and bad legislation? really? how does politics factor into a tradesman doing a half arsed ****ty job? Oh and is windows xp home worth $550? do you have to replace it annually? think about your answer and if you have the balls to actually compose a proper answer get back to me. Tux (606)
405426 2005-11-20 04:41:00 Balls?? Don't need balls to answer to you lol.. where-ever did you get that idea.
Hmm bit of a big-head syndrome maybe? Dunno, duncare

You will find XP is worth more than that, but then you know lots so you already knew that :)

Replace annually? Uh noo.. but then I really don't care about that either.

You are sobbing and moaning over only $600. Count yourself lucky. There are others out there who have lost more (I lost out with faulty hardware worth 800 3 months after warranty) I don't remember doing the Samba over the issue, in fact I know I just took it on the chin (wheres yours btw, leave it in Australia) and got on with life

405427 2005-11-20 04:55:00 Tazz and Tux - that's enough. No more personal insults or I will kick you both off the board. Not impressed. Jen (38)

well, you seem to be making broad generalisations on a topic you have no concept or idea about, you may have lost money before but you are not in my situation . Balls, you need balls to back up the crap you post, careful, you may need to dig yourself out of this one . just keep trying, its only getting deeper .

windows xp home edition, oem, $151 at one retailer, over $500 my arse, well, the full versions are, but i dont recall someone buying a proper copy . so you would be quite prepared to shell out $550 annually for a new ipod each year? good on you then, i hope you have a good job, cause you'll need it .

so you dont care about consumer rights? and $800 worth of hardware at once, right, and it wasnt your fault? your quite content with not giving a ****?

405429 2005-11-20 04:58:00 jen, im not happy neither. i did not ask for the personal attacks or insults which emminated from his posts, not my fault, only defending myself Tux (606)
405430 2005-11-20 05:03:00 Considering the timing of my post and your previous post, you would not of seen it, therefore I will not kick you off for that reply. But anymore and I will ...

Also I don't care about people *defending* themselves. That only leads to both parties turning a thread sour. Ignore them, don't bite back and report that person if you feel it warrants it.
