In saying that it's amazing how many times the courier will still drop it off and sign for it themselves.

I have a lot of material couriered to me and things are left from time to time when a card should have been left instead.

The courier that used to work my run I knew quite well so he was informed that if it fitted thru the cat door then could he please biff it inside and that worked well.

I also had a workmate contact me a few months back and ask why my delivery was at his place?
It was clearly labeled and addressed to me yet the courier had lugged 3 packages weighing around 60KG all up around the back of the workmates house, yet it should have been delivered about 1km away at my house.

Maybe courier drivers are uneducated neanderthals after all :annoyed:

406210 2005-11-27 06:05:00 It's no consolation but there are lots of "missing" postal items in the UK too. And that's in a country where everyone has a letterbox in their front door and it's unheard of for a postie to leave items on your front doorstep.

That appears to be a lesson to learn. But why should we pay extra for proper service?

I had already paid an extra $3.60 for Saturday delivery because I knew I'd be at home. A service which I now find is only a "maybe" Saturday delivery anyway.
The insurance claim is at the whim of Courier Post, completely biased and open to abuse.
I had thought that "signature required" was to protect the customer. In fact it's to protect Courier Post. Because, unless you have paid for that "extra" service, it's their word against yours and they appear to always believe the driver.

I think that Courier Post should not be allowed to investigate themselves. They need an indipendant body set up to do this, perhaps something like an ombudsman?

406212 2005-11-28 20:02:00 Got the email on monday from the VF store I used to work at (apologies for the delay.. I was away from my PC), they contacted the reseller support at vodafone NZ who told them that VF NZ does use an international blacklist.

It's odd how little information about how this works is available on the internet, and how out of date that info which is available is.

Would be interested to know who is actually using the international blacklist!

406214 2005-11-29 09:56:00 Good news! I got a phone call from Jim Quinn, Courier Post CEO this afternoon. While they're not accepting responsibility, they are going to make an ex gratia payment for the full replacement value of the phone.

Well done Courier Post!

406215 2005-11-29 10:47:00 Well done, persistence and politeness pays off .

However I have had to stop my clients sending anything via Courier Post, as they do not deliver, but only leave a card in the letterbox, requiring me to collect the item at the end of the day from the Postshop in town . It defeats the purpose of using a courier .

Its 45 metres from the gate to the door, on an asphalted drive (not a back section) in an urban residential area with plenty of yard space to turn around . No dogs .

All other couriers drive in and deliver, but apparently its "too far from the road" for Courier Post according to the unhelpful response to my complaints .

So the answer was very simple, now none of my clients use the "service" offered by Courier Post .

406216 2005-11-29 11:00:00 Not too dissimilar to my problems with them Goddie. Except they don't seem to be able to knock loud enough or toot their horn as per instructions, even though they know the place. I'm thouraghly sick of chasing urgent parcels back to the depo. Murray P (44)

There you go.:D

It works for me, it worked for you. There is nothing more effective than an informed, persistent and polite consumer.

I'll bet you will remember this experience in the future, and you won't let any supplier of goods or services fob you off with "policy" excuses.

You won't always win, but you will rarely lose.

Cheers

thanks Billy. Your advice is worth bottling.

it's interesting to note that Mr Quinn (CP CEO) pointed out that he felt I souldn't have skipped a couple of levels by going to the Minister . But it got his attention!
