677725 2008-06-12 09:34:00 I dont think you have to enable DHCP in the router, disable it

Is 192.168.1.1 the default login ip for the router?

If it is, try changing the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 (img.photobucket.com)

I dont know what to add in those boxes. I dont have the manual or the modem
That's alright, if I can't get anywhere tonight I'll just work with Linksys on the phone tomorrow. Joy!

I'll change the default gateway to the routers IP and see what happens

677726 2008-06-12 09:45:00 This is ridiculous, I have no idea what's going on, and I'm sure you're fairly out of the loop as well with what little I'm giving you. I mean, I've been screwing with this thing for the past three days and I'm not a step past where I began.

I'm resetting it back to factory default. Christ, I hope Linksys can figure this out for me.

Thanks you guys for giving it your best, this just appears like an issue I'm in too deep on. :angry

677727 2008-06-12 09:49:00 It'd probably be easier if you get a modem/router in one

And wireless, if you want wireless as well

Where in NZ are you?

677728 2008-06-12 10:28:00 Yeah, the modem/router would have been easier, but I didn't know the ISP would offer that beforehand.

677729 2008-06-12 10:33:00 You dont have to get the free modem from the ISP. If you join an ISP.

I would buy my own (well I did).

I wasnt going to get a free modem and stay with the ISP for so long (some have contracts, if I didnt like it).

Then pay the ISP if I left.

677730 2008-06-12 10:35:00 Well yeah, I could go buy a modem/router on my own right now, but then I'd be out $100 for the router I already have. I doubt I'll be able to return it, the place seemed intense on their no returns policy. Plus, the modem my ISP gave me works fine, it's just the damn router.

I might just bite the bullet and buy a new one, though, because of how complicated this is. :horrified

677731 2008-06-12 11:41:00 Would any of these be good choices? I'm looking at price obviously, but still.

www.pbtech.co.nz

www.pbtech.co.nz

www.pbtech.co.nz

If not, suggest me a good one at a reasonable price?
Kundalini (13860)
677732 2008-06-12 11:47:00 The first one (the 3Com) doesn't say if it's ADSL2+ capable or not

The others are cheaper also

but if you're worried about price: www.pricespy.co.nz

And you could sell your linksys if pbtech won't take it back

677733 2008-06-12 11:53:00 Are you using the Internet port on the back of the WRT54G to the Thomson. Take the cable out of there and plug it in one of the LAN ports. I haven't studied your IP addresses yet but try this first if you have not already.
Report back.
