| 405740 | 2005-11-21 05:57:00 | Thanks for googling that. I believe the first major commerically destributed versions was 3.0 and then 3.1. A kindygarten student would probably realise there was a 1.0 or even a .6 Beta or Alpha. No 3 was MS's fist successfull commercial version, slight difference. |

| 405741 | 2005-11-21 06:08:00 | I have to use all three i . e . Windows, Linux and the Mac (well, in fact, both OS X and classic Mac OS) . People ask me - which is better? Frankly, I don't care anymore . If you know what you are doing, they all work as advertised . Never seen any viruses/spyware on the Mac or Linux, but that is only one aspect of an OS . Frankly, I hate dodgy hardware far more :badpc: A lot of user perception seems to come into OSes . A long time classic mac os user thought we were using a PC, when seeing OS X in action :horrified I work my frustations out on cleaning hard drives from really ancient macs/PCs - hitting them with a hammer (yes, really) . |

Just to refresh your obviously fading memory on MS Windows variants may I suggest you visit Nathens' site- toastytech.com Lots of pretty pitures there. |

| 405746 | 2005-11-21 08:11:00 | OK guys - that is enough. Insulting each others choice of OS is counter productive and it is the same old stuff recycled. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. | Jen (38) | ||
| 405747 | 2005-11-21 09:18:00 | By the Way, Windows was actually built from Linux did you know that? Bring back the first true multi-tasking system that ran on a 1Mhz PC. Amiga Rulze!!! It didn't need a multi Ghz CPU to get things goings. |

As pointed out many a time before, a common misconception is that should linux be the OS of choice it would be hindered by the same problems . However this would not happens because of all the chokes that stop malicious programs from running . But this in turn makes it a little harder to use . . . anyway . . . |
