677766 2008-06-12 07:41:00 The speeds you're getting.

Was it this morning / or tonight, when you downloaded Java?

Usually things can be slow in the evenings, due to traffic / congestion / the amount of people on the ISP, at the same time as you.

Have you tried downloading in the morning / daytime?? Is the speed just as slow?

677768 2008-06-12 08:11:00 Oh well, could be other factors (your phone line / filter / whether you use an extension cord from your modem to the phone jack), and how far you are, from the exchange youre connected to.

It may need a firmware update

If theyre talking about the same modem (forums.whirlpool.net.au)

It may not be that good for P2P programs

677771 2008-06-12 21:56:00 You can use this site (http://www.portforward.com/) to help set up your port forwarding, but it may or may not have any effect in this case. autechre (266)
677772 2008-06-12 23:05:00 go to www.speedtest.net and see what speeds you get there. My broadband goes between 9kbytes/s to 160kbytes/s
Torrents normally go at 60-90.
