Slightly off-topic and probably a bit of a grumble One suggestion for any guide being written Image optimisation - Probably the one thing that irritates me the most about a lot of homemade (and some professional ) websites out there, a site I visited last week had 20 thumbnails on one page so it should have loaded quickly, but it took a while too say the least, WHY because each thumbnail was 150Kb, somebody had just set the image size in the html code and the full size image was being downloaded then resized by the browser to fit the thumbnail size, Quite a waste of bandwidth and a loss of customers if they have to sit and wait for the page to download for ages, If the images had been optomised (right size and quality) the entire page with images would have been less than on of the original images ok Grumble over It all looks like a good idea One thing though just state "rules of conduct" for using your hosting in advance, as different people may have very different views to you and it pays to have a frame of reference to go back to, and you don't really want things to turn ugly, |
