677675 2008-06-12 00:57:00 In XP, I could create a 'Toolbar' for Office 2007 just next to the system tray on the bottom left hand of the desktop. I found it to be very handy in accessing Word, Excel, etc.

In Vista, I tried to follow the same technique, but could not create the short-cut toolbar for my Office modules. Could someone please enlighten me on this if it is possible at all? Thanks.

677676 2008-06-12 01:00:00 I'd put shortcuts on the quick launch menu, personally. That would probably be easier.

From the all programs menu, create shortcuts to the office programs you want, then drag those shortcuts to the QL menu. :)

Thanks, wratterus for the quick response.

When I right-click the Office item (from the All Programs menu) there isn't any 'create short-cut' in the drop-down menu (like in XP). How do I create a short-cut in Vista? :o

677678 2008-06-12 01:22:00 Sorry - After right clicking on the item, try Send To -> Desktop (Create Shortcut) wratterus (105)

:thanks

Now I could use this short-cut just created to create the Office Toolbar just next to the system tray. I may have to leave the short-cut on the desktop as the 'Toolbar' is pointing to it.

no you shouldn't,
I do that all the time and i have never had an issue deleting the desktop shortcut and leaving the quick launch one in place, program still launches when the quick launch shortcut is launched

Yep - delete the stuff on the desktop after creating the quick launch shortcuts.

The QL creates shortcuts to the original file, not a shortcut to the shortcut, so deleting those icons on the desktop will not mess with the QL.
