677640 2008-06-11 21:29:00 HP Pavilion 500
ps2 keyboard is no longer recognized
keyboard has been tested on another computer & worked ok.
What am I looking at here?
I would be lead to believe a failing motherboard.

677641 2008-06-11 21:31:00 Has anyone pulled the kb out of the PS2 port before or now?? While the computer has been on?

If so, thats why. It probably killed the port

677642 2008-06-11 21:45:00 I'll check into this.

Should the rest of the motherboard be fine then?

677643 2008-06-11 21:50:00 The motherboard is probably ok, if its got USB and it works, and everything else works, it should be fine

Unless there's an option in the BIOS for the PS2, and someone has disabled it

677646 2008-06-11 22:35:00 Yep, motherboard. You can get away with Using USB but in my experience sooner or later the mb will fail completely. pctek (84)
677647 2008-06-11 22:57:00 The obvious is sometimes too easy!
Thank you - tried several other keyboards and they worked! (Duuuu) :)

You did say:

keyboard has been tested on another computer & worked ok.

Which seemed to eliminate the keyboard itself as the problem.
