678862 2008-06-16 08:16:00 Hi

I get an automatic update from MS for IE7. However, it does not install properly and comes up with a message to say so. It happens on two machines both with XP home. One box has SP2 (a dell) and one with SP3 (homebuilt and a few weeks old).

Any ideas?

Note that i use Firefox and if nothing else would like to get rid of the "WIndows will install the updates and shutdown" message

thanks

678868 2008-06-17 03:39:00 Did you use Firefox to download the update or Internet Explorer / Tools/ Windows updates?
Many moons ago I used Firefox and it corrupted the update, now always use IE for Windows updates with Firefox for all other browsing.

678869 2008-06-17 03:45:00 I know KB 950759 wouldnt install on the other PC here.

It kept saying this update wasnt compatible with the version of IE that was installed (well it was).

I had to reinstall IE 7 on the PC again, then the above update worked

678870 2008-06-17 08:50:00 Thanks Speedy I will try that. The problem is that all I get now is the "installing updates and closing down" message when I log off. It does it every time I shut down. macian999 (13528)
