If you are like me and have your files and data stored on another hard drive or partition you might like to save your Bookmarks file to that partition .

The benefits of doing so are threefold:

1 . It makes for much easier backing up of your Bookmarks when you don't have to go hunting for the file when it comes time to burning data to CDs or DVDs, etc .

2 . Your bookmarks will not be lost should your Windows drive go belly up .

3 . If you dual boot with Linux and use Opera on both operating systems the bookmarks file will be available and properly synchronised between Linux and Windows, a really neat and handy feature!

To do this follow these steps:

1 . Create an Opera folder in your desired location .

2 . Ensure that Opera is closed down .

3 . Find your opera6 . adr file within the Opera folder in Program Files . Copy or move this file to the Opera folder you previously created .

4 . Open Opera then open the Bookmarks panel if not already open (press F4 or go to View>Toolbars>Panels) .

5 . Right-click in the Bookmarks panel . In the popup menu there is a submenu named File, on this submenu there is an option named Save as . . . Select this and in the file dialog box browse to the Opera folder you previously created in your data directory and save it there .

That's all there is to it!

Note that Opera very conveniently automatically creates a backup of your bookmarks file (opera6 . adr_bak) and that file will also now be created in the same folder .

**The previous OTOTD, Kill Button, can be found here ( . pressf1 . co . nz/showthread . php?t=63796" target="_blank">www . pressf1 . co . nz) . **

Opera is a FREE alternative browser to Internet Explorer that can be downloaded from www . opera . com or from MajorGeeks ( . majorgeeks . com/Opera_Without_Java_Now_Freeware_d559 . html" target="_blank">www . majorgeeks . com) .

Opera 8 . 51, a security and stability upgrade, has just been released which all current Opera users should install . It is available from the above links .

Of Course! Navigate to the C:\documents and settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\random_named_folder

Find the file called bookmarks.html
Copy it to CD, USB dongle, Internet and HDD :waughh:

Yes, but do all those bookmark files synchronise themselves so that they are all the same each time you add or delete a bookmark??

I think we are on different planets here...

I am pretty sure you can edit the cookie storage location in one of the .ini files that will allow you to do the same.

The Opera forums are really great at helping out with stuff like that.
