406370 2005-11-22 06:50:00 How about water? Don't forget to stock up on that too - we have a couple of 20L containers filled with water which we change every couple of months. somebody (208)

Are you saying that the paranoias of the scientists all over the world are wasted? Just wait until the day when the bird flu has successfully jumped across the species barrier. I reckon it is best not to take things for granted, we always think that "this and that is not going to happen".

Cheers :)

406372 2005-11-22 07:48:00 I'm saying there are other push factors over this bird flu hype than just scientists .

The biggest benefit has been the marketers of the drugs who have made a killing selling a product with no guarentee of success at all .

Also the comparisons with the 1917 flu epidemic here are just farcical media beatups . Come on look at the medical and social structure that have evolved in the last 100 years, there is no way it will repeat .

The media hysteria over 60 people who had died world wide is just further whipped up to sell papers .

I'll stick it in the same pile as ebola, sars, mad cow disease, etc ,etc . . .

If it REALLY is true then killing some chickens will do bugger all stopping it as its carried by wild birds . As a result we are all gonners (runs around arms in the air saying the sky is falling)

I've given up on being worried about these so called epidemics, they are generated with nausating regularity .

Remember the crisises in the 1970's / 1980's over overpopulation, starvation and world food supplies, over war, unrest, revolutions and the end of civilization as we know it . It didn't happen .

You guys dig your holes and store your water, I'll go tramping and enjoy the spring .
Wake me up for the next one . . . .

406375 2005-11-22 08:00:00 I call bull****.

Its no more around the corner then it was a year ago, ten years ago, twenty years ago. Praticlly no one has died from it recently and it isn't able to jump from person to person.

The problem with scientists is they all love the media, Its their way to fame, One of gets some exposure and the next day hundreds of them are making reports on the same issue.

I would be surprised if a bug does run rampent through the human race, It happens every fifty years or so, we are overdue, Though It could come from many different directions.

If it was as serious a threat as we are made to believe then International travel would be suspended, Cause there aint no bird flu happening in this country.

Chicken Little syndrome.

They get Bird Flu not from keeping birds in cages, but from living with them and having poor hygiene, The birds poo, food, parasites and germs get into the human food chain and the humans get crook.

Cheers :)
