Messages posted to gaming forums and discussion groups mention that consoles have crashed during play thanks to several different errors. The crashes were reported as happening with a variety of games including Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing and Need for Speed. Microsoft acknowledged the reports but said incidents were "isolated". I wonder when they will release a service pack  ;) |

| 407259 | 2005-11-24 21:49:00 | And that's why you would never want Microsoft to be involved in things like cars, aeroplanes, hospitals or anything else where failure could lead to death... :p | maccrazy (6741) | ||

It takes time to check for buffer bounds, so security essentials like that are the first things to be "optimized" out when programmers are looking for the last few CPU cycles. As for separated code and data ("no-execute") areas of memory ... :D "That could never happen", "Noone would ever try that" ... I'm not sure what use it would be to gain control of X-boxes ... I doubt if they will be replete with credit card numbers ... but perhaps mass DOS attacks? Or a company could set up a BIG distributed computing engine with all the X-boxes sitting on ADSL lines , and sell computing. Or use them as mass spam mailers. They've got to be good for something. |

Will we get an updated console at a lower price since it has already been making milions in the US for 3 months by the time we get it? |
