| 407096 | 2005-11-24 18:01:00 | I got this Email on how I can enlarge my penis, It reminds me a couple of years with linux I multiplied a "sex" junk mail and returned about 2000 of it, I think the move exposed the clown in Christchurch because that happened not long later, as I jammed up his email box, it took about half an hour for the 2000 emails to go out on 52K dial up. I pick on the "sex" email due the nature of the email and have no regret over my action, my current ISP at the time was not happy with me, and stopped my account for 24 hours so in response I walked away from my account, as I say if it had not been a "sex" email I might not of done it. Anyway I must go to work soon. I find this at clear web site (if your ISP is clear, and the odd junk mail slips though) Question How can I report missed Spam to Clear.net? Answer If you receive spam email which is not picked up by our spam filters you can now forward it on to the following address: missedspam@clear.net.nz. Any emails forwarded to this address will be submitted to Brightmail for processing. There are a couple of things you must know before forwarding spam to this address: 1. The missed spam must be sent as an RFC-822 MIME encoded attachment in order for the BLOC (Brightmail Logistics and Operations Center) to process the email. Any email not sent in this format will not be processed as Brightmail will not be able to create filters for it. I have included instructions on how to forward emails in this format below. 2. Brightmail must receive the missed spam within three days of it initially being sent to effectively write rules and filter the spam. Here are the instructions on configuring common mail clients to forward Email as an RFC-822 MIME encoded attachment: Microsoft Outlook: - Under the Tools menu select Options. Under the Preferences tab, press the E-mail options button. - On the bottom half of the window, under "When forwarding a message" select "attach original message" from the drop-down menu. - Click OK. - Select the message you want to submit. - Click on the Forward button. - Address the new message to "missedspam@clear.net.nz". Leave the subject and body of the message blank. - Send the message. Microsoft Outlook Express: - Select the message you want to submit. - Click on the Message menu, then Forward as Attachment. You should see an Attach: row under the Subject. - Address the new message to "missedspam@clear.net.nz". Leave the subject and body of the message blank. - Send the message. If Outlook Express warns you that the message has no subject, just click OK. Netscape Messenger/Mozilla Mail/Thunderbird: - Right click on the message you wish to submit and select "forward as an attachment". - Address the new message to "missedspam@clear.net.nz". Leave the subject and body of the message blank. - Send the message. |

How do you know that it went to the spammer? Considering that 99 . 9% of spam originator addresses are spoofed and all . . . |

Bwahahahhahahahahahaha . You don't seriously for a second believe that it made any difference? :lol: :lol: :lol: 2000 e-mails isn't even a blip on the radar . Anyway I must go to work soon . | 407100 | 2005-11-24 20:02:00 | Reporting it will likely have no impact at all. Are you saying that if Brightmail doesn't block it the first time, the filters don't get modified based on user reports? The sender and subject headers change but the content is relatively constant, why isn't that enough to filter on. |

| 407101 | 2005-11-24 20:20:00 | The impact is likely to be incredibly minor. | ninja (1671) | ||
| 407102 | 2005-11-24 20:32:00 | ninja, are you saying that email to the likes of "missedspam@clear.net.nz" has little impact because 1. It's ignored 2. Very few people bother 3. You don't know what happens to it. |

Pixildust is absolutely right, sometimes spammers even target someone they don't like as the sender, it's called getting Joe Jobed ( . urbanup . com/803387" target="_blank">joe-job . urbanup . com) . You probably just destroyed some poor schmoe's email worse than it already was from the bounced spam Eric . :( Fighting fire with fire is not a good thing, and I can see why your ISP may have taken exception . -Qyiet |
