| 406825 | 2005-11-23 10:13:00 | I have taken a picture for passport size with a Canon 7MP camera and the image size is 3072(w) * 2304 (h) . How Can i resize this to be 240(w) * 320(h) so just have the face for passport purposes . I need to make it exactly 240(w) * 320 (h) When i try to the picture appears distorted e . g face becomes narrow . I am using Adobe Photoshop 7 & also PaintShop Pro 5 and go thru Image->Image Size -> and then specify width and height or for PaintSho Pro Image -> Resize and specify the required size . How can prevent the distortion . Do i have to first crop the picture around the head and shoulders and then paste it into new image? I have tried this and this also does the distortion with face becoming squashed . Can anyone explain how to do it? Thanks very Much |

| 406827 | 2005-11-23 10:40:00 | When the photo is cropped right for you. Go to Image Size, click the tick being "maintain proportion" or something like that. This will take out the squashed face thingy. By this method, you just need to insert one size the width OR height, if you pop the height the width would be also done for you "becos you ticked maintain proportion". I would think about the resolution you need? Contact your lab what dimensions you need. Many labs say use 300dpi or one lab I know says 400 dpi, makes no diff IMO. What you do is downsize that 7MP file to the dimensions of cm or mm or whatever valve you use. Maintain the pixel at 300 or such dpi or ppi. |

| 406828 | 2005-11-23 12:19:00 | be sure to check the passport photo requirements (www.passports.govt.nz) - get the area to be covered by the face correct when cropping For Photoshop: - crop as appropriate - set the DPI to 300 pixels/inch (or whatever the printer is really capable of, heck you can probably just leave it alone, it will be over 300 anyway) - then change the print dimensions to the 45mm by 35mm (you will have to downsample) - maintain proportions read this on resolutions (heim.ifi.uio.no) |
