679790 2008-06-18 04:08:00 The chap at Ascent tells me some people are having problems with SP3. I had none, but now I'm wondering.
Anyone know of problems?

679791 2008-06-18 04:11:00 You will have probs, probably if you have an AMD CPU and its an HP PC.

Or some Symantec programs can also play havoc with SP3.

You'll see in Google what the probs are. There's posts in here about it as well

679792 2008-06-18 04:15:00 Certain HP PC's with AMD CPU's had issues if you didnt apply the fix FIRST
The usb port on my generic work PC started having issues with some Usb flash drives
Some wifi/network drivers have issues with SP3

Keep in mind that the was at least 2 versions of SP3 (the original was removed
& 'fixed' by MS)

679793 2008-06-18 04:17:00 Only problem I have had is when the PC has SP3 and is Connecting to a Home Server as well on a LAN. - servers all upto date as well.

I have a couple of PC's in the workshop (this one included that I'm on now) that has SP3 on and they are fine - NOT backing up to the server, others in the house that still have SP2 and connecting/backing upto the Home server - All fine.

One of my PC's and several other customers that has SP3, & connect to the Home Server are experiencing intermittent lockups - the mouse moves but that's all, every thing else even ctrl/alt/del all locked solid.

One customer has 8 PC's in the business - all running SP2 the 1 that did have SP3 on was locking up almost hourly, I removed sp3 - made it better locked up once a day, reinstalled the OS completely stopping at SP2 - been running fine since.

679795 2008-06-18 04:44:00 I'd put it on - first - then install other software. wratterus (105)

679797 2008-06-18 10:31:00 When I installed SP3 I got the infamous blue screen and I had to reinstall but luckily I didn't lose any data, its just now Windows Explorer encounters problems sometimes. I don't have an AMD CPU or an HP computer so I guess I was unlucky and got an corrupt install :angry MongooseRoadkill (13197)
