679103 2008-06-17 01:58:00 Hi peoples!
I'm putting together something at work, to contain all of our training documents and help files etc.
To be used as a quick reference from any of our pcs.

Any opinions on the best thing to use?
eg. Drupal, another cms program, a basic html site, etc.

Your opinions matter! Thank you.

(it won't be live on the net, just on our inhouse network)

679104 2008-06-17 02:01:00 Just a note that this is a genuie question rather than a chat topic so it should actually be moved to the Forum section.

What does your company do in relation to types of tutorials that people would need?

679105 2008-06-17 02:09:00 Moodle is a fairly popular option, and has been used widely by organisations to do exactly what you describe. I haven't used it personally, so cannot really give first-hand advice, other than to say that it has been successful in many organisations. somebody (208)

Sorry, yes good point. Was undecided if it was a problem or a chat.

We have about 40 workers who start with us each year.
It's just the basic training for each department they'll work in.
eg. Working in the call centre,
Customer service training and cash handling...

Also would include supplier info links and something like a problem solving section, where they can click through links to get the final answer they need.

Thanks for the reply

679108 2008-06-17 02:18:00 Thanks for the info on what you guys cover.

Do you guys use Xero for your cash handling at all?
I don't work for them although I do think it is an impressive product.

679110 2008-06-17 06:40:00 I've seen a working Moodle system and it sounds like exactly what you need.

It allows you to track the progress of the staff and what results they get. It can be very interactive and include multimedia such as video and audio as well as simple multi-choice etc.

Note, I've moved this thread to the PressF1 (tech) part of the forum. Some topics can go either way and it doesn't matter too much what forum they end up in. You are more likely to get technical replies and the thread seen in the PressF1 forum. :)

It rather depends on what you want the staff to read and comprehend.

Also whether or not they get an examination. As well you would have to consider how often documents get updated due to policy changes within the company. For example if I worked there and once reported to Fred and Joe takes over the Fred position do I now report to Joe or has the job description changed for Joe in which case I may need to report elsewhere.

Very much muddy waters.
