Double checked this and all ok Met. Done all the Otago lad suggested, still have to turn the volume up,but at least I can hear it. Thanks you all for some great info. |

| 409275 | 2005-12-02 10:02:00 | What inputs does the Denon setup have? If it's recent in the last 5 years it should have optical input and coaxial at a guess as well as the rca inputs your currently using. I'd use the optical just check what type of TOS cable you require and get the approriate cable with the correct fittings at each end then set your dvd player accordingly. I assume that the Denon is a 5.1 surround sound setup and it will then decode the pcm audio stream more than happily and if your lucky it may have an onboard DTS decoder as well. The cable will cost around $25 if your lucky depending what brand you buy. What were you watching by the way? Some music DVD's I have been less than impressed with, but it depends on what source material they have to work with in the beginning I guess. Some seem to be mastered from a bloody VHS tape! |

My Denon doesnt have the optical input, all I have is two Energy speakers,2.1 I think they are. I was watching a film called Traffic, with young Douglas and the Zeta Jones girl. |

Not knowing your financial situation you will never get the best out of any DVD until you have at least an amplifier capable of a 5.1 setup and speakers to match. Don't be fooled into buying a box special etc from the likes of woolworths, Dick Smiths, Warehouse etc. A good tuner amp can be purchased starting around $600 + and then a case of buying rears, a centre and a subwoofer to suit. Then you can blow the neighbours out of bed with the gunshots, explosions, low flying jets or just pink floyd playing sorrow live..... |

| 409278 | 2005-12-02 20:14:00 | The DVD is set to sterio. I don't want an experience,I just want to hear what is said. The kit I have cost about 5k and to be honest I hardly ever use it. |
