679697 2008-06-18 09:22:00 Another way of doing it was with a square tube you bought which had a right angle bend in the middle of it and a mirror at that bend. One end you had your 8mm movie projector and the other end you had the video camera. If you can still buy them that would be the way to go. Also have one of those video cameras that record direct to DVD. Most 8mm/ Super 8mm film was silent.

Yes buying (or making) one of these is a good idea, but it has problems such as the projector's bulb is usually what gets picked up most. I think you also run into problems with flicker as well. Yes I guess it is fair to say not too many 8mm had sound, so that helps.

There are companies that offer this service, but the volume of film involved makes it cost prohibitive. Can anyone tell me where I can source the hardware/software required to perform this type of transfer,
