| 679055 | 2008-06-17 01:58:00 | I have 1.5gb memory. When I look at task manager, it is rarely over 500mb. So this means I have sufficient memory to not require the use of the page file? (assuming I dont use any heavy programs) I'd leave the page file as it is if I were you. I have 4GB, and was thinking about it, but thought again. I may get 8GB at some point, and I'll turn my page file off then. But not until. Unless you desperately need the disk space. |

| 679058 | 2008-06-17 04:16:00 | Oh. I've disabled the paging file for a long time now, and the PF usage graph still shows usage (I guess that is total ram usage?). I rarely run into problems. That only happens when I have a lot of programs open and a task bar box appears saying windows is low on memory. That only happens when I'm using 1.2-1.3gb memory. It came about because I thought: "well i have all this unused memory, I should make it a ramdrive and store my paging file on it". But then why use a paging file at all instead when you have the ram to spare? * Again, this is all assuming I don't run programs which require more physical memory than I currently have |
