2005-12-07 20:46:00 | i have fixed the problem, it involved a quick HOSTS file fix, just put in 0.0.0.0 www.mediaonenetwork.net into your hosts file and voila no more annoying flash pop up ads

2005-12-07 21:25:00 | There is another way. Contact one of the firms advertising and let them know that their ads piss you off so much that you will never buy anything from them in the future. When businesses learn that such advertising is actually losing potential customers, they will change their methods. I took this approach when mystuff website started ads which prevented me from reading the page until I closed the box. They didn't last long on the site. I hope I helped to stop these by complaining. Also contact the website and let them know that you will not be visiting the site any more because of the intrusive ads. Takes a little time to do but negative feedback is effective. I just realised that I can't see these ads anyway since I have never added the FF plugins for flashmedia. I don't miss much without this plugin, if I need it, I crank up the IE for viewing.

2005-12-07 21:42:00 | Good morning Jared Thank you for your enquiry about our unique ad format that you have seen on line. The simple answer to your question is that you can easily close the player by clicking the close button. It will simply slide off screen. This is unlike PopUps that are much harder to close, and while they are up, your browser window is inactive. But with the MediaOne viewer your browser window (whichever site you are on) is still active, so you can scroll the window and continue to interact with the content. In our consumer research this was seen as a good solution, and our ad format was strongly preferred to banners or pop ups on screen. There is no way of permanently stopping MediaOne ads appearing, just as there is no way to stop magazine ads in magazines, radio ads on the radio, or TV ads in the middle of your favourite TV show. And those are media you pay for! We work very closely with the Publishers of web sites on our network to ensure the viewer is placed in the position least likely to cover content, and sets frequency caps to ensure you don't see too many repeats of the same ad (you know how annoying that is on TV) Advertising is a fact of life on the internet as publishers have to fund the development and provision of the content you enjoy somehow - it is not "free" and research has shown that the vast majority of people are not willing to pay for it. You may be different... Our publishers are very happy with the way our format delivers quality ads in a user friendly format, while also providing them with a revenue stream to help meet the costs of running the site. I am happy to answer any more queries you may have.

2005-12-07 21:46:00 | woohoo....Marketing speak, where would we be without it. Love the way the videos in question load up in the background, stalling the page, then place themselves right in the damn way, and then make enough noise to make you want to throttle someone. Luckily they are easily blocked, Perhaps you should have sent them a link to this thread.

It will simply slide off screen.Except that the close button dosn't work till the thing has loaded the video wasting my bandwidth. I've complained to several websites about the use of these adds. I assume that they get paid well for them, because they are still on most of the sites. -Qyiet |
