2005-12-01 13:17:00 | I have rather a tasty Denon system which is connected to the TV. Will try alternative methods on the morrow. If I were to listen with my eyes closed I would tend to fall asleep, have been known to go to sleep while in the front seats at the Messiah.

2005-12-01 17:43:00 | I once found out the hard way that the colours on the cable ends actually HAVE to match the colours on the dvd player and tv. Caught me out once, worth double checking. When I screwed that up the sound was terrible, could hear it but it sounded like there was a blanket over the speakers. | sam m (517) | |
2005-12-01 18:04:00 | Are you running 5.1 (or 6.1 or 7.1) speakers or just the two speakers? If you are running just the two you may need to check to see if the dvd player is it to 5.1 or 2 channel. If it is set to 5.1 and you just have the two you would run into sound problems. Also how are you running the sound to the denon systems? Analogue or digital connection? Cheers XOtago.

2005-12-02 00:48:00 | Are you running 5 . 1 (or 6 . 1 or 7 . 1) speakers or just the two speakers? Also how are you running the sound to the denon systems? Analogue or digital connection? Cheers XOtago . Let me say that I don't know what 5 . 1 or 6 . 1 is . I have looked in the sanyo book and it doesn't mention it . I have analogue and have connected to DVD,the sound is better, but I have to turn volume up to nearly full, when I switch to say tuner at that level,it just about deafens one .

2005-12-02 00:51:00 | 5.1 is 5 speakers plus a sub, Fancy souround sound in other words. Any chance you have plugged the audio cable into the wrong output?

2005-12-02 05:18:00 | Not a favourite hobby of mine, sorting out wires. All I can say is that I am better than SWMO,which is not saying a lot. ;) On the DVD it has 1.component video out jacks. 2.Line out video. 3.normal progressive switch. 4.S Video out jack. 5.Line out L/R(audio) jack.(19 20 21) 6.Digital out(coaxial) jack. 7.Digital out (optical) jack. I have three wire from DVD to TV,two from 5 and one from 2. Wasn't sure what to take it from on DVD,so have two wire from Audio on TV to the VDP on amp. I have my fingers crossed that that is clear.

2005-12-02 05:32:00 | What model and make dvd player? It started out in one of the earlier posts as a sony and then became a sanyo. I would try a number of things in the setup menu make sure 1)digital out is set to off (if you can) or pcm or such like and dts to off 2) during playback press AUDIO button on remote if possible and select 2 channel if avaliable may need to press button a few times. 3)Try a different cable Try that and see Hope it helps Cheers

2005-12-02 05:40:00 | I wondered if others would notice that transition. The Model and make is...Sony DVP-NS575P. So you are happy with wiring?. Will look at setup SAP.and try the other possibilities.

2005-12-02 08:59:00 | Your connections should be fine then. I have downloaded your manual off the net and had a quick look earlier, you might want to check that the NOISE ATT is set to off as this will muffle the sound. This is found in the audio setup part and set DOWNMIX to dolby surround. And it sounds silly but as the others mention give the connections a extra push to make sure they are seated properly. And yes DVD should sound a helluva lot better than vcr especially if you are pumping it out through a Denon system. Cheers :D :D :D
