As for me, More power the betetr, Though that has to be weighed against cost, which is why my desktop uses an AMD 3000 and 6600GT and not an AMD X2 4000 and 7800GTX...... |

| 408638 | 2005-12-03 11:29:00 | I take your point Murray about cost versus benefit but who would want to play a game like Half Life 2 and turn everything off? It seems like a pretty random test to me that has zip relevance for the real world. I guess that's why I picked on it. As for my buying patterns? I never buy the latest or the greatest - if I have to buy the latest I look at the either the cheapest and buy the model that is slightly better or look at the highest performer and buy the one that is slightly less than that. But then sometimes I will buy technology that is nowehere near new. But hey, that's just my opinion.... I didn't see many other posts from Intel users so had to stick my oar into it. BTW, isn't AMD a big advertiser with C|Net? ;) The test is designed to exclude the gfx card to better judge the CPUs performance, but no, unless you've got a crap board with crap onboard gfx, it doesn't relate a hell of a lot to what happens on a half decent system..... I guess there's a very good reason right there, for the talk of Dell using AMD chips at last. I'm with you there on the latest and greatest too, let the hoopla die down, the bugs and the marketing bullshyte to be sorted, then you have a look  Fool, I told ya not to look, I even told you to stop your usual whining once you got here. Some self control is the order of the day for you lad  |
