680270 2008-06-19 07:27:00 Ive done a bit of a web search but I cant find the answer.

Can an Asus M2A-VM HDMI motherboard take both Intel & AMD CPUs? And is there a limit to what level of CPUs it can take?

Im a bit confused on this issue:horrified

680271 2008-06-19 07:31:00 No it only takes AMD AM2 CPU's (www.asus.com)

Not Intel CPU's

The CPU's it supports are here (support.asus.com)

You may have to update the BIOS, depending on WHAT CPU you put on it

680272 2008-06-19 08:02:00 Just so you know though, no motherboards can handle both AMD and Intel, as they're made with different architectures. It's just not possible.

The motherboard should tell you a socket type. This tells you what CPUs it supports. The latest Intel chips are mostly based on a 775 socket. AMD's are on an AMD2+.
