679086 2008-06-17 00:39:00 Something has happened with some of my MP3 files. I think it is the files but I'm not sure. I am able to play them on Media Player 10 but if I use one of the other players installed on my computer, they sound garbled and sped up. It only happens with MP3s, wav files play with no problem.
I can't find any help online yet. Any ideas on what to try.

679087 2008-06-17 00:46:00 Have these MP3's ever worked? ie: is it just a recent problem? Thebananamonkey (7741)
679088 2008-06-17 04:02:00 They have always worked. Could something have corrupted these files. Backups of these mp3 files work fine in any program. To start off the problem was only with certain files.
The others worked fine. Now it seems none of the originals work in anything but Media Player 10. Is it just a case of restoring from the backups?
What could cause this to happen. The only other problem I have had lately is an infection by vundo. Is this just a coincidence?

679089 2008-06-17 04:05:00 Did you get rid of the vundo infection?

Its possible that screwed something up

679091 2008-06-17 07:24:00 What other players are you tying to use and not working? beeswax34 (63)
679092 2008-06-17 07:48:00 If they are being played in Audacity, be careful they are not single stereo tracks as it will play them twice as fast or slow, cant remember which, tracks have to be in at least stereo tracks. Besides that I cant think of why they only play in WMP and go funny on others... what sort of mp3 are they? (lame etc) rob_on_guitar (4196)
679093 2008-06-17 08:27:00 I have tried using itunes, quintessential player, winamp, mediamonkey, quicktime player. The thing is that some files work and others don't. Some of these files I have had for a number of years without any trouble before. They play like the file has been compressed so it plays faster. hogsnort (7858)
679094 2008-06-17 08:54:00 quicktime and itunes work together ok, quintessential winamp mm and WMP are more compatable i think. Especially if the tracks are m4a or mp4 files. rob_on_guitar (4196)
679095 2008-06-17 11:00:00 All my files are MP3s and I have tried the different players installed on their own.It doesn't matter which player I try they all sound the same. Sped up and garbled. hogsnort (7858)
