| 410423 | 2005-12-05 13:05:00 | I got this Email Each year, the New Zealand Herald announces a New Zealander of the year in December . This year we would like members of our Reader Panel to assist us with this selection by inviting you to submit your nomination for New Zealander of the year . The criteria is: "a person whose actions or achievements in 2005 have been to the betterment of the country and it's people" Please note that we exclude, as a policy, politicians because of their ability to dominate the public agenda throughout the year, and the power they have to influence us all constantly . Based on your nominations the New Zealand Herald editorial department will select one winner and 9 other New Zealanders who have made a difference .
