| 680927 | 2008-06-21 16:54:00 | hey first off thanks in advance for any help you can provide im running windows XP, and im trying to access my external drive after i reinstalled XP to my pc. it says "filename is not accessible. Access Denied" i have looked through other forums, they say i have to take ownership of the drive. Properties>security tab> etc. however i do not have a security tab when i go into properties. is that only for vista? i only have one user so im not sure why i need to take ownership. my pc recognized the drive, however i cannot open anything and says that they are empty. but my drive says it has used 100GB so i know its there. lastly im not sure if this matters, but i can access the folder that i copied from another pc (not the one i reinstalled on) months ago. the properties for that folder seem the same as the others. i really need these files. please help. thank you. |

| 680928 | 2008-06-21 18:33:00 | Are you using XP Home or Pro?? If Pro, open my computer / tools menu / folder options / view. Untick use simple file sharing (right down the bottom). Then OK Then the security tab will appear Welcome to PF1 |
