2008-06-21 05:44:00 | OMG .. I just had an email from a friend advising me my sites been hacked. www.aoteatourism.co.nz I dont know if its has a virus embedded. It looks russian at a glance. What can I do about it? I was under the impression my hoster would protect my site from this. WAHHHH do we have an expert in this field? Cheers Leigh

2008-06-21 05:59:00 | I'm No web designer, but the first thing I would do is contact the hoster and temporally take the site off line till its been sorted.:2cents: | wainuitech (129) | |

2008-06-21 06:02:00 | It could have happened by any number of means, whether a script vulnerability via SilverCMS (silvertech.co.nz), YaBB (http:) or a compromised server ( At this stage it looks to only be a single file "hacked" (the index (http://www.aoteatourism.co.nz/index.php" target="_blank">exon.net.nz/), it could be anything. At this stage it looks to only be a single file "hacked" (the index (http:) page which basically serves your site) however you can never be sure a backdoor hasn't been planted in some way so it's a matter to talkover with your webhost. | sal (67) | |
2008-06-21 06:03:00 | Vital .. if I didnt know better Id say yer that guy John Doe off the tV show of the same name. A mind of useful information. :-) Yah Ive emailed the host .. I need to know what to do and umm is my host responsible for that sort of protection. Ive been looking through their site and dont see anything remotely resembling this :-O

2008-06-21 06:06:00 | ...my host [is] responsible for that sort of protection. A host can only do so much, it's not hard for a "client" to host a page which a malicious person could use to gain a foothold, especially when your site relies on server-side scripting such as yours did (PHP).
