680678 2008-06-20 22:00:00 Hey, i am thinking about if im starving my pc?

I have random shutdowns when the computer is usin the graphics chip (onboard) it may have a random shut down and also it SOMETIMES shuts back down again when you boot it up, and has a warning about power failure.

I am wondering if i am using too much power for my PSU?

I have a winfast motherboard with 1gb of ram and a onboard Nvidia 6100.
(And also a plug and play dell ultrasharp monitor)
I have a 80gb hd, floppy and a lite on dvd/rw.
I have over ten USB ports on this pc, but only one is normally used for mouse.

Would this starve my Hyena :yuck: 400 Watt PSU?

Here is a screen shot of the Attached file: Device_Manager.JPG (www.imagef1.net.nz) (83 KB)
(Note, the brother hard disk is the printer and the first CDROM on the list is a virtual drive)

You already know the answer, with a Hyena anything is possible.

680680 2008-06-20 22:25:00 Yeah ditch the hyena and get something better, your motherboard manual should tell you the minimum specs for the power supply it needs gary67 (56)

680682 2008-06-20 23:37:00 Are ThermalTake PSUs any good??

The 430W ones retail for ~$85 IIRC.

EDIT: More like $95.

680683 2008-06-20 23:58:00 I'm using Thermaltake 430W's here .

Havent had a prob with them since I brought them .

They were only $60 each . Since they were as is . No package/box, just the PSU .

680686 2008-06-21 03:30:00 for a cheap PSU... the likes of high power or aopen. there are several others and most likly all made by the same manafacture.
400w would be to small. get a 500watt +. especialy with cheaper brands make sure you get one bigger than you need.
