412041 2005-12-13 02:10:00 As a 15 year old currently listening to Billy Idol, i enjoy a lot of the music of the previous generations. However its unfair to say that todays musis is talentless. Yes, most rap isn't even written by the artists who "sing" them, and if anyone has heard Avril Lavigne live, then you'll know who incredibly bad her singing actually is.

But there are so many bands that still exist with talent. Tool, Ben Harper, Foo fighters, Placebo, Che Fu, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jack Johnson, Goldenhorse, System of a Down, even 8 Foot Sativa.

Regardless of whether you like the bands above, they do have talent. Even metal is often regarded as talentless, but the ability to scream like they do and play instruments like they can all shows they have talent.

Utter Rubish. (not tripe. I like tripe)
Look at the names of those you mention. That should show the type on noise they make.
Normal people use their own names. If you lack the guts to put your own name to anything you can't be much good

Your a legend.

Best logic ever, Must mean every Orchastra ever is just crap because they don't use the names of the member?

Doubt they could fit them all on a CD cover, and the radio DJ would spend more time listing the people involved then playing music.

412043 2005-12-13 02:16:00 I have contacted the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and asked if they can provide a list of all current members, when I get it I will then suggest they change the name to reflect the people on the list,

............and that they do nothing but free work so the under-privilaged can experience their performances as well......

Classic!!

JJJJJJ stands for what may I ask? I assume you are NOT normal and therefore lack the guts to use your real name?

Cheers, you've provided my amusement for the day.

Deliberate mis-representation

Is it? I thought Metla's point was pretty fair.

Lo.

I have voted for TRIPE in your poll. There again I do like some of todays music and artists. I voted tripe as most of it is in my humble opinion.

Are you being confused by bands or artists or the actual music?
Some MUSIC that has been around for some time includes Opera from Gilbert & Sullivan. This was originally played by the Savoy Opera Company but has been played by many Orchestras or Bands as you put it.

I listen to Hayley Westenra, Boysown ( No matter what )

Not into Heavy Metal or anyone whithout diction.

Like Shania Twain, Cliff Richard (now she is young and has a good backing group). He is old and has never been in the poo and has also had good backing. I still listen to the Shadows who backed him at some time.

Hmmmmmm. Memories. While Sir Cliff Richard was in the movies ( Young Ones) I think it was was Cricekters as the backup.

In Australia a while ago it was "The Police" as the backing band. Twice I have been to live concerts listening to Cliff Richard.

Are you talking about the music or the artists or the band?

Any of the above
Dannz (1668)
412049 2005-12-13 03:28:00 Staying power - that's what's needed. Can you honestly believe that many (or any) current performers will still be given air time 30 years from now?

Ever listened to Patsy Cline or Mary MacGregor, The Beatles? Every word sung is perfectly audible, what is supposed to be background music is not used to cover up useless singers.

But then it all depends on what kind of performers one appreciates, the crash and bang brigade or true musicians. Both types have their appreciative audiences..

I am inclined to agree. The only problem I have is with the original post.
Are we talking about music or the singers or backing bands?

There again what is a true musician? To be it would be someone in a symphony orcestra or a guitarist or even someone playing a tambuorine.

When it comes to it if you enjoy listening that is all you need.

A little like I enjoy driving a Toyota RAV4. I have an AMD Processor.

Others use a Holden or Ford.

Why argue?

My Appoligies i should have explained better - i was refering to anything releated to the "current" music. Bands, artists and the music itself.
