2005-12-12 19:07:00 | Funny. I have not even heard of the "musicians" mentioned by previous posters. Radio stations. Does anybody listen to them today. From what I hear they only play the current "hits" , and with about 500 commercials in between each one. My radio gets turned on at seven am to listen to the comedy show. ie. the weather forecast. Then it goes off at five past seven.

I Do! - much cheaper than buying all the music and easier than any "other" means of listening to it - which i never bother with. |

2005-12-12 19:50:00 | I think most of the music today is pure crap. Half them can't sing and if they can there usually is no tune to the song Yes I was bought up on music of the 60s and 70s, grew up during the 80s (I am in mid 30s). I still like the 80s stuff, and I havent grown so old as not to still enjoy my Metallica and Ozzy :D To me, music actually had something about it, it wasn't plastic, the bands weren't a joke (hell even KISS with the makeup were more real than some bands today (still enjoy KISS too :)) I did get into the more 'angrier' songs of Eminem, think Darkness is a complete joke, and you will never see Backdoor Boys anywhere near my collection. Kylie (puke) Minogue, Weezer (nother joke), Black eyed what?? Please [Most] songs of today are plastic, crap, like most modern cars

2005-12-12 20:07:00 | Music - like any form of art - is purely subjective. It is impossible, IMO, to measure its value other than in its inherent value as a form of art. That is, it's impossible to say that one artist is better than another, or one era is better than another, because of the myriad of individual tastes. Furthermore, what does it prove if we were able to point to an artist or era and say "That's the best". Does that mean we stop listening to anything else. I think the best thing is simply that there is a near-infinite choice of music, allowing everyone to find something they enjoy. Whether they find what they enjoy similarly enjoying commercial success, and thus readily available, is a different matter. Whether you mellow out to the sounds of nails down a blackboard, or rock out to the latest commercial rock act, or anything and everything in between, be thankful for the ability to hear, and being able to appreciate the variety of sounds that the vibration of air (feel free to correct my physics) produces. Lizard P.S. For the record, I enjoy: Classical, Jazz, Swing, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Dance, Vocals, Commercial, etc etc. And Talking Heads is worth a listen, Daniel, if you haven't already. Esp. Stop Making Sense.

2005-12-12 20:57:00 | A list of current music I hate: Crazy Frog.......OK... I'm worried Actually there isn't much left after I eliminate all the crap. Alas, New Zealand music is going down the toliet too. A lot of the old stuff is crap too.Yeah... i kinda agree at the moment about NZ music, but then again, i have been working with some of the worst of Christchurch's dead metal stuff, and it's driven me to the point where i've packed in working as a sound engineer for a wee while, at least till i've had a holiday, and can start again, picking and choosing, and not mixing for gigs/bands that i don't enjoy... There are some worthwhile KIWI bands at the moment, just not that many as there have been, This flucuation is normal though, there are gluts and lean times. Katchafire, as one example, put on a damn good show.. I mean a seriously good show. There are many, other examples, but i don't feel like making a tedious list. My Favourate band at the moment is so obscure that had to import CDs from England after rediscovering Blyth Power on Limewire. These guys have been going Over 20 Years. They stopped publicly counting the years after 20! Nothing like a little good folk-rock!
